If you do, or ever wanted to do, comics and/or sequential art or manga, this is one of the few instructional books on comics that you will always want to re-read, keep in your library, AND loan out to friends and give as gifts. The sidebar professional tips are worth the cost of the book alone, not to mention the instructional sections on marketing and coloring. I put off buying this book for far too long and will be re-reading and recommending this book to friends and fellow sequential artists for many years to come. I've worked in this field for over 30 years and have quite a collection of instructional books on doing comics and can honestly tell you that this is one of the BEST. WELL DONE!!!@@@@Great for the aspiring writer, the aspiring artist, or even the imaginative person with an idea for a book.

Reading it right now.. just stopped for a minute to check my email. Already this book has inspired me to work on my graphic novel. It gave me great tips from leaders in the industry. It is laid out like a college course, which by the way the authors have been teaching a course in Self-Publishing Comics for several years. I read several reviews online and got to preview a few pages in each chapter, the chapter on Marketing sold me... no pun intended.@@@@Awesome book, super informative and fun to read.

If you are solely a writer and not an artist you may feel a bit left out on the majority of the book, but there is still something here for you to justify the purchase (though that depends on your writing expertise) not only that it gives you peek into the inside dealings of the other side of the spectrum which is the artists; so it can create more of an appreciation for those peoples jobs (letterers included). Either way this book will be helpful to most and is worth a look.@@@@It gave me great tips from leaders in the industry

This book is not all inclusive when it comes to concepts like learning to draw and other basic art concepts, but it does showcase important things that many comic creators overlook when doing their books and if you can learn those things you will be better prepared to venture into the realm of making and publishing your own books. It also gives some good resources and links of where to start and follow up to further your book. The segments on writing, lettering, and how to do comic book conventions/shows alone are worth the price of the book.
